About Us
Squiz’s success is based on providing for its clients high-end, commercial-grade software - free of charge.
Free? Sounds strange. But read on.
Squiz creates and implements Open Source software solutions. The term “Open Source” nowadays has a rather technical meaning (see http://www.opensource.org). From our clients’ perspective, however, Open Source has a simpler message. For them it can mean freedom - freedom to modify, copy or even resell the software we give them. Unlike “proprietary” software, our clients always own the code we write for them.
Our Open Source philosophy of “freeness” means that Squiz can concentrate its efforts on providing high-quality services to its clients. This service-oriented business strategy has enabled Squiz to develop and grow, when many of its industry rivals have fallen by the wayside. Combining high-quality service with a high-quality “free” Open Source product has been a winning formula for Squiz.
Squiz was founded in 1998 by Robert Darroch (Chairman), John-Paul Syriatowicz (Managing Director) and Stephen Barker (Executive Director). Squiz's steady growth - we now employ nearly 100 staff in three countries - has been funded entirely from income earned. Squiz is a company with financial substance and a proven long-term record.
From its inception, Squiz has maintained two fundamental beliefs:
That the demand for Open Source software will grow (read why); and that Our clients know more about their particular industries than we do, and our job is to help them capitalise on that know-how.
Squiz built its first Content Management System (CMS) solution more than six years ago. We saw content management as the key to enabling our clients to take control of and develop the online side of their business.
From this experience in the “real world” – we have built CMS solutions for over 500 clients – we have assembled our present product suite: firstly, MySource Classic, then MySource Matrix.
MySource Classic is a powerful, page-based tool for building and managing online projects, including websites and intranets. MySource Matrix is an asset-based system that has been designed for use by medium and large organisations.
Squiz's strength is in providing customised solutions tailored to the special needs of clients (including, where appropriate, solutions that are not necessarily Open Source).
Squiz, however, encourages its clients to take advantage of the benefits that Open Source software offers: functionality, adaptability, security, lower cost and – above all - software that doesn’t come with strings attached.
If you want a service-based, fully-supported, upgradable Open Source solution, choose Squiz.net.
